Hello! How are you? My name is Eric Wurdinger, and I am the newest Yokkaichi English Fellow here at Asake Jr. High School. I am very excited and happy to be at your school this year. I have been given a warm welcome by the staff, and students. I already know I am going to like working with you all very much. The students in Ms. Matsui's classes have already seen my self introduction, but for the rest of you, here are some things about me. I was born and grew up in Syracuse, New York. It is a city the size of Yokkaichi, with a population of 300,000 people. It also has weather similar to Yokkaichi. Hot and humid in the summer、and very cold in the winter with lots of snow. The fall is cool and the leaves turn many colors, and the spring time is nice. The spring is also when my birtday is, March 27th. Before I moved to Yokkaichi, I had been living in California for the past five years. I was living in Long Beach, which is a big city located south of Los Angeles. It is a very nice place to live, located right next to the Pacific Ocean. In Long Beach, I had been teaching 7th grade English at a middle school. That is the same as ichi nensei at a jr. highschool in Japan. I was teaching 7th grade for two years, and enjoyed it very much. Students in Long Beach are very genki, fun, hard working, but also they are often challenging to teach. Some of my hobbies include; surfing, skiing, swimming and bike riding. I also like to play guitar, listen to music and meet people. I have lived in some wonderful places in my life too. I have lived in Colorado, Maine, Alaska, Hawaii, San Francisco, Long Beach, and now Japan. I will be living in Japan for the next two years, and I know I will enjoy it very much. I have already found it very enjoyable and interesting here. I have met many very friendly Japanese people; especially the students, and hope to get to know them much better in the next two years. I love the food and the culture here too. The festivals I have been to include the Yokkaichi festival,Kuwana festival, and Zizo bon in Kimono. I have also been to Isse and Tomida. I am trying to learn to speak Japanese too; Nihongo benkyo shitai. So please help me to speak Japanese, and I will help you to speak English. That`s all for today, see you!
